The NEWHEY is the bag for the outing where everyone's coming. Its 30-litre body is sized for a proper spread for three to five people, and it's built from 1680D Oxford — one of the toughest shells in the range — so setting it down on gravel, a rocky beach or a dry-stone wall doesn't leave a mark.

Two features make it a picnic specialist rather than just a big cooler. First, a removable insulated divider: leave it in to keep hot food and cold drinks in separate zones, or take it out for one large space. Second, a set of compression straps across the front that grip a rolled-up picnic blanket, so the one thing that never fits in a cooler finally travels with it.

The lining is food-grade PEVA, heat-sealed and wipe-clean, and holds the cold for up to sixteen hours with ice packs. Around it you get two side mesh pockets for bottles, a zipped back pocket for valuables, a strap-mounted bottle opener and padded straps to shoulder a full family load. At around a kilo empty it's not the lightest here — but it's the one that turns up with everything.
